SSCAFCA 2025 Election Information

Established in 1990 the Southern Sandoval County Arroyo Flood Control Authority (SSCAFCA) is an independent corporate political body with an elected board entrusted with flood and storm water control.  SSCAFCA is governed by five directors.  Each director serves a six year term.  On November 4, 2025 SSCAFCA will have two director seats up for election.


GENERAL INFORMATION

  • The 2025 Regular Local Election will be held November 4, 2025
  • Two (2) SSCAFCA Board of Directors positions will need to be filled
  • The terms will be for 6 years beginning January 1 , 2026 and ending December 31,  2031

INFORMATION FOR CANDIDATES FOR THE SSCAFCA BOARD OF DIRECTORS

No person shall become a candidate in a regular local election unless the person physically resides within the boundaries of the district or districted area in which the person desires to be elected or to represent and the person’s record of voter registration shows that the person is both a qualified elector of the state and was registered to vote in the area to be elected to represent on the date the proclamation calling a local election is filed in the office of the secretary of state.

  • Nominating Petitions: Each nomination of any candidate shall be signed by not less than fifty qualified electors, regardless of whether or not nominated, shall designate the name of the candidates nominated and shall recite that the subscribers are qualified electors and that the candidates designated are qualified electors of the authority.  Nominating Petition Forms are linked below.
When to File – Date and Time

Candidate filing day for the SSCAFCA Board of Directors for the 2025 Regular Local Election is TUESDAY, AUGUST 26, 2025 – between 9:00am and 5:00pm

Where to File – Proper Filing Officer

Declarations of candidacy and candidate qualification documents will have to be filed with the Sandoval County Clerk Office, located in the Sandoval County Administration Building at 1500 Idalia Rd, Bernalillo, NM 87004.

What to File – Forms

Each candidate must submit a Declaration of Candidacy Form (and any other required forms) to the office of the Sandoval County Clerk, during the designated hours for filing

For additional Election Information

The New Mexico Secretary of State’s Office will offer two virtual trainings in Summer 2025 for candidates running for office in the 2025 Regular Local Election (Tuesday, November 4, 2025).

These trainings are meant for anyone thinking about running for an office that will appear on the Regular Local Election ballot.

These trainings will cover everything RLE candidates need to know about how to interact with our Office during the election, how to qualify for the ballot, and how to file required reports during your candidacy.

WHAT: Virtual candidate training for prospective Regular Local Election candidates

WHERE: Online (through Microsoft Teams) – link provided upon RSVP

WHEN: Either 11am on July 29th, 2025 or 1pm on August 7th, 2025 (These trainings are duplicates. Interested participant only needs to RSVP for either one.)
