Lisbon Channel Improvements: Arkansas Channel to Southern Blvd

The Southern Sandoval County Arroyo Flood Control Authority (SSCAFCA) is conducting the Lisbon Channel Improvements project within the City of Rio Rancho. This project will stabilize the Lisbon Channel between its confluence with the Arkansas Channel and Southern Boulevard, improving critical flood control infrastructure for the surrounding community.

Work includes mass earthwork, reinforced concrete construction, base course installation, riprap placement, and storm drain installation. Construction is expected to begin the week of April 13, 2026, with a duration of approximately 180 calendar days.

At SSCAFCA’s direction, contractor Salls Brothers will be implementing traffic and trail control measures throughout construction, including a temporary multi-use trail closure with signed pedestrian detour routes and construction vehicle access from Southern Boulevard.
